We welcome you to discover a little bit of the "OLD
WEST” is right here in the remote area just north of
Heber-Overgaard in North Eastern Arizona. Take the
Forest Service Road (504) approximately 20 miles
through the Sitgreaves National Forest.  As you
approach the higher desert elevation of Chevelon
you will see some locals - free range cattle grazing.

It’s a terrific spot to get away from the heat, with
summer temp’s in the 75-85range, cooling
drastically in the evenings. This is the quiet
isolation that brings campers, hikers and hunter’s
here all the time. The road’s are accessed on the
504, the. 153 and the 95 Forest Service Roads,
which require 4-wheel drive only during Monsoon
and Snow Storms.  

There is a School bus that runs daily out here. The
roads are maintained by the Forest Service and are
gravel/dirt.

In some of the area’s you can see the San Francisco
Peaks, or enjoy fishing in nearby Chevelon Canyon.  
Horse back riding under the star’s is a favorite
pastime. You can join the Deer Run and Jackson's
Hole water cooperatives operates wells in the area,
or you can drill a well on your own property.   

Properties are assessable from Winslow or Heber.
You can obtain a permit from the Forest Service to
gather dead wood to heat your cabin, or use a
generator.

Bring your trailer and your horse and start building
later!!!

Located 20 graveled miles north/northwest of the
picturesque mountain retirement/summer home
communities of Heber-Overgaard.  50-70 miles from
Payson and Show Low which have good shopping,
including Home Depots and Wal-Marts.  30-40
minutes to I-40 at Winslow, 2.5-3 hours to Phoenix,
1.5 hours to desirable Flagstaff.

Chevelon Retreat, Arizona, is an excellent
recreation/getaway location with fabulous views
and clean mountain air. The property is level to
gently rolling.   The community neighborhood is on
a high mountain plateau between Black Canyon and
Chevelon Canyon Creek, near Chevelon Lake, and
various other Mogollon Rim lakes.

Directions:

From Phoenix, Arizona, the route is mostly four-lane. Take state
highway 87 seventy miles north to Payson and then continue on 260
55 miles toward Heber-Overgaard, until reaching the left turn onto
well maintained Forest Road 504 (gravel).

Follow 504  seven miles northwest until you take FSR 153 five miles
north to its junction with FSR 95.  Follow FSR 95 east 5 miles to the
junction with FSR 95F at the "Squaw" cattle watering Tank. There is
no sigh for 95F - it is the road going north just west of the cattle tank.

It is also called Squaw Tank Road.  Follow FRS 95F 3.50 miles north.
 This should have you very near GPS coordinates 34.6354 and
110.5875 which would be the southwest corner of the parent parcel.  

The last few miles are ranch road which is a rougher, with some 5-10
mile per hour rocky areas.
